18. dubna ještě bránila cestu z Artesy do Trempu a následujícího dne překročila hranici z Francouzskem přes El Portillón a Puente del Rey. | The 133rd Mixed Brigade was formed in May 1937 in Barcelona with anarchists and as a backup for the Eastern Army. The The 134th Mixed Brigade was organized in May 1937 as a backup of the Eastern Army and joined the 31st Division of the 10th Army Corps. She took part in the siege of Huesca and in September the Battle of Belchite under Group "A", commanded by Modesto. In these fights, her performance was brilliant, she cooperated in the occupation of Mediana and attacked Quinto. The brigade commander, García-Miranda, was wounded, as did battalion commander José Álvarez Benejam, who took command of the brigade for a while. At the Battle of Aragon, facing the threat of occupying Barbastro, she retreated to the high Pyrenees valleys on March 26, 1938. On April 18, she still defended the road from Artesa to Tremp, and the next day she crossed the border from France via El Portillón and Puente del Rey. She was reorganized again in Figueras and returned to northern Catalonia. One of her battalions took part in the Battle of Ebro, and on October 12, another of them, the 534th, took part in an operation to clean up the sector in the Sierra del Cadi. When the Battle of Catalonia began, the 134th Brigade covered the front at Coll de Nargó. On January 2, 1939, the 68th Mixed Brigade had to replace her in Boixols. The latest news of its existence comes from Caldas de Montbuy, where it was on January 26, 1939, the day of the fall of Barcelona. |
