| pilot npor. Sokol had the task of flying the aircraft after changing the oil cooler. After taking off in the direction of 240 °, the Spitfire Mk IX TE 572 climbed to a height of about 100 meters. Suddenly the machine began to turn the left turn. The moment he turned about 180 °, he lost speed, leaned sharply to the left, and slid down the wing. The impact on the ground was not observed by witnesses, because "Spit" disappeared beyond the horizon. The plane shattered on the ground. The fuselage broke at the cockpit, the right wing tore off and lay about 15 m from the wreck. The pilot died at the scene of the accident due to injuries suffered. Several witnesses agreed that the aircraft had stopped the engine during the climb. The pilot apparently tried to turn back to the airport, there was a loss of speed and the plane crashed. The cause of the accident was most likely an engine shutdown and piloting failure in an emergency. |
