| The 106th Mixed Brigade was established in March 1937 in Hellin with battalions of the Alicante militia and recruits from 1932 to 1935. The 106th Mixed Brigade was assigned to the 20th Division, first as a general reserve of the Andalusian Army and later in the IX. Army Corps. The 106th Mixed Brigade had a baptism of fire in the Lopera-Porcuna sector, where it defended the positions of the Pachen and Torrealcázar estates. On February 16, 1938, it intervened in a failed operation against the Quemada, Acebuche, Águila, Pollo and Argallén mountains, in which its 423rd Battalion operated in Group "A" and the remaining three in Group "B". In May, she excelled in the defense of Las Albarizas. Two of his battalions cooperated in the battle of La Serena and from there returned to the Martos-Torredonjimeno sector, where the brigade regrouped. In September, it attacked Monterreal's position in the Lopera-Porcuna sector and suffered heavy losses. In February 1939, it covered the area from Mures to Frailes with a command post in Benalúa de las Villas. He handed over his 423rd battalion to the "Y" brigade, planned for the planned landing in Motril, and instead trained a new battalion in Montillana. |
