6. července měla 101. smíšená brigáda svůj křest ohněm, když vstoupila do boje v bitvě u Brunete. 1. prapor zasáhl do dobytí Quijorny 9. července. Ofenzíva se pak zastavila a brigáda se usadila v obranných pozicích a svedla několik nočních bojů 15., 16. a 17. července na mostě Navalgamella a Vértice Perales. 18. července začala v tomto sektoru národní protiofenzíva s těžkými útoky na pozice Los Llanos, kde brigáda ztratila svoje pozice a utrpěla značné ztráty, včetně velitele 3. praporu majora Freireho. Během této závěrečné fáze velitel 101. smíšené brigády Aribau spáchal sebevraždu, než by padl do rukou nepřítele. From the 4th Battalion of the 10th Mixed Brigade "El Campesino", the 101st Mixed Brigade was formed in Sagunto from April to May 1937, which was supplemented by recruits from the full-time service from 1932 to 1935 from Aragon, Valencia and Jaén. In June 1937, the brigade left its headquarters in the Valencia region and moved to Alcalá de Henares. On July 6, the 101st Mixed Brigade had its baptism by fire when it entered combat at the Battle of Brunete. On that day, she attempted to attack Los Llanos from the banks of the Perales River, but two consecutive attacks were unsuccessful. Finally, two days later, the 2nd Battalion managed to conquer the city. The 1st Battalion intervened in the conquest of Quijorna on July 9. The offensive then stopped and the brigade settled in defensive positions and fought several night battles on July 15, 16 and 17 on the Navalgamella Bridge and Vértice Perales. On July 18, a national counteroffensive in the sector began with heavy attacks on Los Llanos positions, where the brigade lost its positions and suffered significant losses, including the commander of the 3rd Battalion, Major Freire. The next day the fighting continued and the national forces managed to build a bridgehead across the Perales River, but it only took 24 hours. Finally, on the night of July 25-26, as the Battle of Brunete drew to a close, the 101st Mixed Brigade was replaced by the 69th Brigade. After the fighting in Brunete, the unit withdrew to its headquarters in Alcalá de Henares, where it remained until January 21, 1938, when it left for the Teruel Front, arriving in Peralejos on January 24. On January 27, the brigade tried unsuccessfully to attack Celadas, including the commander of the 4th Battalion Rafael Moliner. The next day, the attempt was repeated with the same result, and on January 29, part of the disciplinary company deserted and took its commander and his staff hostage. In total, the brigade suffered losses that accounted for a third of its troops, which forced it to be withdrawn from the front line and transferred to Teruel for reorganization. From the end of January, the 101st Mixed Brigade took up defensive positions, which included the old town of Teruel, the cemetery, Cerro de Santa Bárbara and the left bank of the Valdecebro stream. The attack of national forces, which began on January 20, 1938, continued with an attack on positions defended by the 3rd Battalion, commanded by Captain Cuervo, who retreated. As a warning, the officer was shot, but the demoralization spread to such an extent that his successor met the same fate. Eventually, the unit fled Teruel in confusion and left its wounded. In three days, the 101st Mixed Brigade suffered more than 500 casualties. During the restructuring, the unit again focused on Alcalá de Henares. She remained here until March 13, 1938, when the national offensive began in Aragon, moved north from Ebra, and on March 27 arrived at Borjas Blancas. The next day she took part in the fighting in the Sierra Grossa and the hilly area between Alcarrás and Butsenit, next to Segre. On April 1, she had to restore the lines abandoned by the 37th Mixed Brigade, and finally on April 4, she evacuated from Lleida to settle in Vilanova de la Barca. On April 20, she began occupying positions on the left bank of the Ebra from Rasquera to the sea. She also took part in the fighting around the Balaguer bridgehead. On May 27, he followed the road from Balaguer to Tárrega, approaching the Ermita del Pedrís, then moving to the right, towards the Torre de Salas and elevation 240; but in total, his advance meant no more than 1,500 meters into no man's territory, because although one of his tanks arrived in the trenches of the 1st Battalion of the Palm Regiment No. 36, he was eliminated from the fight, while the infantry brigade gave up the attack. This offensive across the bridgehead was interrupted and returned to its position in front of Ebro, standing on the 6th km of the road from Tortosa to Barcelona. When the Battle of Ebro began, on July 31, it established its positions in front of Villalba de los Arcos. Two days later, he fought on the bridge over the Canaleta River. On August 8, it covered positions east of the Sierra de Pandols. After the battle, the 101st Mixed Brigade retreated to Vinaix to reorganize. On January 13, 1939, during an offensive in Catalonia, the unit that initially covered the front from Tivenys to Tortos withdrew in defense of the Prenafeta and Coll de la Cabra del Camp. She then appeared in protection of the retreat in Igualada and eventually retreated towards the French border in Port-Bou. During this final phase, the commander of the 101st Aribau Mixed Brigade committed suicide before falling into the hands of the enemy.
